Kiwanis March Student of the Month Sydney Morton

In a recent meeting, the Kiwanis Club of Cherokee announced its Washington High School Student of the Month, Sydney Morton.

Sydney, a senior at Washington High, is the daughter of Frank and Jan Morton. As a student Morton demonstrates leadership through her participation at the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security in Washington D.C. She is also involved in numerous school activities including Lincoln Douglas Debate President, Jazz Band Pianist, JETS Science Team Captain, Individual Speech President, Group Speech, NHS Community Involvement, Spanish Honor Society, Thespians Vice President, Community Theatre, Dance, Concert Choir, Spanish Club, Tennis, Concert Band, Marching Band, Pep Band, Cheerleading, and Jazz Choir.

After graduation, Sydney plans on attending Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Students selected for the "Kiwanis Student of the Month" Award must demonstrate good academic effort, attend school regularly, and be considerate of others. The purpose of the recognition is to support students who show good potential as future leaders and will work for the betterment of communities through service to others.
