Wellness Center Offers "Zumba"

Friday, March 27, 2009

Are you looking for some fun and excitement in a workout? Come join the Zumba party at the Wellness Center in Cherokee. What is Zumba? It's a fun and energetic workout inspired by Latin dance moves that will have you feeling like you're not even working out!

"It's just a blast!" says Donna Mogensen-Lee, Zumba Instructor. "You don't need to know how to dance, you just get out there and move to the music." The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that help sculpt the body. It works the whole body and gets your heart pumping. Participants can burn up to 500 calories in a class. Zumba is great for people of all ages.

"This is such a different class, with the music and movements, that it doesn't seem like work - you're just having fun! And it's great to see all the different people participating," says Sue Sangwin, class participant.

The Wellness Center tries to keep up with new classes and programs to offer. "It's important to us to keep offering new programs like these for our members. We've had great success with our Pyramid Challenge and the Drums Alive class, and now Zumba has really taken off. We really encourage everyone to come check it out," says Denny Taylor, WC Manager.

So if you're tired of doing the same boring exercises, come join the Zumba party! Classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. If you have any questions regarding Zumba class or any other programs at the Wellness Center, please call (712) 225-6858
