Congregate Meals

Monday, April 6, 2009

Congregate Meals is a federally-funded program which provides a solid, nutritious meal for senior citizens. The meals are served five days a week at the Hy-Vee Store in Cherokee. The meals follow the food guidelines put out by the "Siouxland Aging Services," an agency based out of Sioux City. Siouxland Aging Services provides services for Cherokee, Plymouth, Ida, Monona and Woodbury Counties.

Each year on July 1, the agency determines who will provide the meals. They talk to seniors about problems which concern them, and also receive information from various sources.

For reservations for the meals, please call 225-5326 before 9 a.m. in the morning.
