Hy-Vee Pharmacy, located at 800 N. 2nd St. in Cherokee, has a new pharmacist on its staff. Darcy Gaudian, a recent pharmacy graduate from Drake University, began working there on March 18, replacing Corey Anderson, who left to take a job at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Darcy, a Primghar native, did a rotation at the Cherokee pharmacy in the winter of 2007 as part of her training at Drake, and is happy to be back working with the "great crew" at Hy-Vee Pharmacy.

Gaudian is the daughter of Darwin and Jan Gaudian of Primghar, and graduated from South O'Brien High School. She has a younger sister, Danielle, who is currently a student at Northwestern College in Orange City. Her maternal grandfather, Leon Hunt, was also a pharmacist, operating Hunt Pharmacy in Primghar.

Darcy earned both her Bachelor's and Pharmaceutical Degrees from Drake, the latter in 2008. She worked at the Medicap Pharmacy in Urbandale while attending the Des Moines school, and also worked at Sac City Drug for a month before starting her duties at her current position.

Darcy lives in Paullina, and her outside interests center on outdoor activities, especially golfing and helping her dad out on his farm.
