ALTA - The Aurelia Bulldog girls' track and field team scored 126 points in finishing a strong third among Class B teams at Tuesday's Alta Girls Relays.
The sprint medley team of Ashley Anderson, Meghan Glawe, Shaina Thevenin and Erin Laursen won their event in a time of 2:10.62, and the 4 x 100 team of Jessica Mann, Kate Carlson, Glawe, and Laursen grabbed the gold with a 4:50.88 reading. Shaina Thevenin had the only other first place Aurelia effort, as she long jumped 14-1 1/4 to take that event.
In other events, Amber Loucks finished second in the shot put with a toss of 28-9, and Laursen was fifth, throwing 25-9; Loucks was also second in the discus, hurling the platter 75-6 1/4; Ashley Anderson was second in the high jump, leaping 4-6; Glawe long jumped 12-9 3/4 to finish fourth; Desiree Thatcher finished fourth in the 3000 meter run, with a time of 16:38.63; Thevenin was second in the 100 meters, in a time of 13.87; Laursen finished second in the 400 meters with a time of 70.62; Anderson was second in the 100 high hurdles in 18.61; Melanie Gehrts was second in the 800 meters in 2:55.56, and Loucks was fourth in 3:32.92.
Also, Thevenin took second in the 200, in :29.65; and the distance medley team of Anderson, Glawe, Mann, and Carlson finished second, with a time of 5:21.09.
The Bulldog team scored 126 points, trailing Spalding Catholic (139) and Remsen St. Mary's (130) in a tight battle for Class B team honors.
Hinton won Class A, with 183 points, followed by Ar We Va (127), and Schaller-Crestland (113).
