Cherokee 7th-grade girls track

The Cherokee Middle School hosted a dual girls' track meet with Storm Lake on Tuesday, and Cherokee's 7th Grade coach, Sue Ann Johnson, was very happy with the results that her team, which makes up with enthusiasm what it lacks in numbers, produced at their first meet of the year.

"It should be a fun and interesting year for us," said Johnson.

The Cherokee girls captured the following first- place finishes: Kaitlyn Miller, long jump, 10-10 1/2; Dani Roethler, 100 meters, 15.38, and 200 meters, 32.99; and Maddy Woodall, 800 meters, 3:11.16.

Additional Cherokee results included: shot put - Ali Pierce 20-11, Cenzie Wood 19-8, Kristin Gerhardt18-5; long jump - Abby Lubeck 9-7, Maddy Woodall 9-4 1/2; 100 meters - Abby Lubeck 17.27, Kristin Gerhardt 18.7; 400 meters - Kaitlyn Miller 1:19.82, Briana McGarry 1:22.33; 200 meters - Maddy Woodall 34.07, Kaitlyn Miller 34.63, Briana McGarry 35.02, Jennifer Davis 36.48; 800 meters - Briana McGarry 3:26.71, Dani Roethler 3:27.99, Kaitlyn Miller 3:30.57.
