Bulldogs blank Cherokee tennis girls

LE MARS - The tough and experienced Le Mars girls shut out visiting Cherokee 9-0 in Lakes Conference tennis action here Thursday night.

In varsity singles for Cherokee, Demi Dunn lost 10-8 to Sam Rich in a highly competitive match at #1, Allie Parker fell 10-4 to Caitlin Bauerly at #2, Michelle McGarry lost 10-2 to Natalie Miller at #3, Jessica Cedar lost 10-6 to Molly Fischer at #4, Sydney Morton fell 10-6 to Erica Westhoff at #5, and Amanda Kohn lost 10-6 to Haley Wsitalski at #6.

In varsity doubles, Dunn and Parker lost 10-2 to Rich and Bauerly at #1, McGarry and Cedar lost 10-6 to Miller and Fischer at #2, and Morton and Kohn fell 10-4 to Westhoff and Switalski at #3.

In JV action, host Le Mars won 8-1. In singles for Cherokee, Hillary Wilkie lost 8-1 at #1, Aurora Buschkamp lost 8-1 at #2, Kelsey Raper lost 8-0 at #3, Jordan Miller lost 8-0 at #4, Nicole Kellen lost 9-8 (7-2 tiebreaker) at #5, and Jackie Wilson lost 8-2 at #6.

In JV doubles, Wilkie and Buschkamp fell 8-0 at #1, Denise Freed and Wilson lost 8-2 at #2, and Brianne Fowler and Emily Estala lost 8-5 at #3.

The Cherokee girls host Storm Lake tonight, and travel to Spirit Lake Friday night.
