Aurelia's Hill has 4 hits in twin bill

STORM LAKE - Brandon Pietrzyk doubled to left center field to drive home Mark Blum, giving the Buena Vista baseball team a thrilling 6-5 victory in game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon against Luther College. The Norse then got a seventh-inning home run in game two, giving them a 2-1 triumph.

In the first game, Aurelia High School alum Garrett Hill drove in a run on a fielder's choice in the third to give the Beavers their first lead of the contest. Hill, a senior, had two hits in the game.

Game two was a pitcher's dual throughout with the two teams combining for only four hits over the first 5.5 innings. Hill finished 2-for-3 to lead BVU, which tallied just five base knocks in the contest.

Buena Vista (24-7 overall and 11-5 in the IIAC) moved back into sole possession of first place in the conference standings after Wartburg was swept on the road at Coe College. The Beavers and Knights will now square-off in a key three-game series this weekend with Friday's nine-inning showdown beginning at 6:00 p.m.
