At the Library
Hi! My name is Peg Wurth and I am pleased and excited to be your new Youth/Special Services Librarian at the Cherokee Public Library. I live just outside of Marcus with my husband Joe, who is a High School Special Education teacher in Marcus. We have two sons, Tom and Bob. We also have five grandchildren. Two in Tennessee and three in the state of Washington. I taught elementary music for 10 years and 12 years as a fourth grade teacher. More recently I worked at the Le Mars Public Library as a catalog librarian and assisted the children's librarian whenever she needed me. I always enjoyed reading to the children, helping with the craft projects, and doing musical activities during our Summer Reading Programs. Some of my favorite things to do in my spare time are going to a good movie like Australia, playing piano, singing, going for a walk, embroidering, and playing cards.
My first day of work at the library was Monday, April 6th and I have been busy getting acquainted with staff, patrons, procedures, programs and the community. We had a nice turn out for the Easter Bunny last week. Pictures were taken, Easter eggs were handed out, and even a few hugs and handshakes were exchanged with the Easter Bunny.
I would like to invite all those interested to join us for our "Preschool Story Time" every Tuesday from 10:30 -- 11:00. We will have 30 minutes of stories, finger plays, music, crafts, and lot of shared fun!
Just a heads up about our annual Summer Reading Program. We have begun making plans for our "BE CREATIVE @ YOUR LIBRARY" summer reading program. It will be during the month of July and our kick-off date is July 1st at the Community Center with Magician Chris Collins presenting the WHEEL OF AMAZEMENT. More information will be given at a later date concerning the different programs that will be offered during the SRP.
I look forward to meeting you either in our weekly programs or whenever you come to the library. We have much to offer at our library and it's free!
