The South O'Brien boys competed in two recent track and field meets, including the Spirit Lake Co-Ed, and the Knight Relays in Orange City.
At Spirit Lake, Taylor Schroeder won the long jump with a 20-0 leap, and Grant Hibbing placed second in the high jump with a 5-10 effort. Thirds went to Cole Pleggenkuhle's 11:16 time in the 3200 meters, and the distance medley relay of Mike Faust, Pete Matthews, Jarod Syndergaard, and Adam Paulsen timed in 4:00.
Syndergaard was fifth in the 400 meters in 55.01, Schroeder fifth in the 200 meters in 23.89, and Reese Powers fifth in the 3200 meters in 11:50.
SOS was fifth in three relays, with the 4x200 of Schroeder, Tanner Matthews, Cole Ebel, and Faust timed in 1:40; the 4x100 of Schroeder, Pete Matthews, Faust, and Syndergaard clocked in 46.81; and the 4x400 of Jon Gray, Paulsen, Faust, and Cody Rehder timed in 3:55.
The 4x800 was sixth in 10:10 with Andrew Koehlmoos, Evan Magnussen, Hibbing, and Paulsen aboard. Syndergaard also was sixth in the long jump with an 18-6 effort.
At the Knight Relays, Schroeder and Syndergaard tied for second in the long jump with 20-1 leaps. The medley relay was second in 3:56 with Faust, Zimmer, Sundergaard, and Paulsen aboard; and the 4x100 of Schroeder, Zimmer, Faust, and Syndergaard was second in 46.61.
The 4x400 was third in 3:50 with Paulsen, Zimmer, Hibbing, and Rehder running; the 4x800 of Nate Struve, Koehlmoos, Magnussen, and Paulsen was third in 9:37; Schroeder was third in the 100 meters in 11.72; Hibbing third in the high jump with a 5-8 leap; and Zimmer third in the 400 meters in 55.06. Syndergaard was fourth in the 400 in 56.61.
Also, Powres was fifth in the 3200 in 11:27, and Pleggenkuhle was fourth in 11:24. Koehlmoos was fifth in the 110 hurdles in 18.32, and Schroeder fifth in the 200 meters in 24.15. Pleggenkuhle was sixth in the 1600 meters in 5:22.
