POCAHONTAS - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn girls rang up five first-place finishes on their way to a third place in the team race at last week's Pocahontas Relays .
Sioux Central won the Class B competition with 212 points, followed by Prairie Valley 156, MMC 110, Alta 60, Laurens-Marathon 34, and Ruthven-Ayrshire 5.
Firsts for the Eagles included Erica Dreckman winning the 100 meters in 13.43, and Ashley Schneider winning the 200 meters in 28.18.
MMC won three relay races, including the the 4x200 of Dreckman, Jena Mittlestadt, Amanda Hoefling, and Schneider clocked in 1:55; the 4x100 of Mittlestadt, Rachel McDermott, Hoefling, and Schneider timed in 53.31; and the sprint medley of Mittlestadt, McDermott, Schneider, and Dreckman clocked in 1:58.
Taylor Hohbach was second in the discus with a 98-10 effort, and jackie Homes was third in the shot put with a 28-1 heave. Holmes also was fourth in the discus with an 83-11 throw. Mittlestadt was third in the 100 meters in 13.75, and Hoefling was third in the 200 meters in 29.27.
Two MMC relays finished third, including the 4x400 of Sears, McDermott, Carly Lehnhoff, and Hoefling timed in 4:43; and the 4x800 of Reagan McDaniel, Kayla Foresman, Anna Wilcox, and Sears timed in 12:11.
The shuttle hurdle of Sara Peters, Kelsey Sears, Annie Wester, and Jenna Johnson was fourth timed in 1:31; and the distance medley of Bailee Nelson, Jalyn Doeden, Lehnhoff, and McDaniel was timed in 5:21.
"It was a little windy, but a good night for many events," said MMC coach Ric Collins. "We scored well in all areas and had two entries in every event."
