Pirate track teams 4th at O-A Meet

ODEBOLT - The Galva-Holstein boys and girls each placed fourth in their respectve divisions at last week's Odebolt-Arthur Co-ed Relays.

Southern Cal won the boys competition with 105 points, followed by Battle Creek-Ida Grove 80, Laurens-Marathon 74, G-H 59, Schaller-Crestland 56, East Sac County 52, Remsen St. Mary's 45, Kingsley-Pierson 34, Newell-Fonda 28, O-A 25, and BCIG JV 0.

East Sac County won the girls competition with 151 points, followed by Southern Cal 104, BCIG 90, G-H 89, S-C 53, K-P 31, O-A 27, N-F 22, RSM 12, BCIG JV 0.

For the G-H boys, John Harris won the 400 meters in 50.18, and also ran on the Pirates winning medley relay team clocked in 3:50. G-H seconds went to Mark Cronin's 46-10 shot put effort, Collin Bubke's 19-2 1/4 long jump, and Kellen Jacobson's 58.99 time in the 400 hurdles.

The Pirates shuttle hurdle relay was third in 1:04, and the 4x400 relay was fifth in 3:44. Patrick McAreavy was fourth in the high jump with a 5-8 effort, and Cronin was sixth in the discus with a throw of 106-6. Seth Johnson placed sixth in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:02.

In the girls division, Jessie Mathes won the 400 meters in 1:02, and Nicole Boyle was fourth in 1:09. G-H also won the distance medley relay in a time of 4:43, and was second in the sprint medley relay in 2:00, third in the 4x800 relay in 11:16, third in the 4x400 relay in 4:33, fourth in the 4x100 in 55.99, and fifth in the 4x200 in 2:04.

Also for G-H, Jayde Boyle was second in the 3000 meters in 12:12, Kysa Bennett fourth in the discus with an 86-6 throw, Lindsey Joslin fourth in the long jump with a 13-10 leap, Brea Slaybaugh fifth in the long jump with a 13-8 1/2 effort, Annie McAreavy fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:21 and sixth in the 100 hurdles in 18.21, Jayde Boyle fourth in the 800 meters in 2:38, and Meg Kofmehl fifth in the 800 meters in 2:41.
