Cherokee girls prevail in golf triangular
The Cherokee Washington High girls golf team won last Friday's triangular at the Cherokee Golf & Country Club after carding a 223 team score, followed by Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn 228, and Aurelia 238.
In the Le Mars Golf Tournament Saturday, the Cherokeek girls placed sixth out of 10 teams in the wet, windy, chilly weather conditions.
At Friday's triangular, MMC's Katie Bauer was medalist with a 49, and Cherokee's Jessica Cook was runner-up with a 54 in the cool, breezy conditions.
Other scores for Cherokee were Amanda Callahan 56, Ally Curry 56, Danielle Hansen 57, and Kelsey Ludwig and Emily Cook each 58.
Other scoring for MMC included Robyn Cave 57, Shelby Lunders 59, Jessica Alesch 63, Taylor Hohbach 72, and Emily Bush 78.
Low for Aurelia was Amanda Swanson with a 56, followed by Amanda Felton 60, Jennifer Jensen 61, and Kristun Tabler 61.
MOC-Floyd Valley won the Le Mars Tournament Saturday with a 372 team scroe, followed by Sioux City Heelan 405, Sioux City North 409, Sioux City East 412, Le Mars 433, Cherokee 438, Sheldon 447, MOC-FV JV and le Mars JV 448, Sioux City West 462, and Le Mars Gehlen 471.
Kessica Locker of MOC-FV was medalist with an 84, and Heelan's Emily Vogel was runner-up with an 88.
Emily Cook led Cherokee with a 104 on rounds of 52-52, followed by Callahan 108 (52-56), Hansen 111 (56-55), Jessica Cook 115 (55-60), Curry 116 (58-58), and Ludwig 119 (55-64).
