Yard sale bargain On April 24 and 25, the streets of Aurelia were swarming with bargain hunters on hand for that community's Annual City Wide Yard Sale. A wide variety of items, ranging from furniture and books to toys and holiday decorations, were offered for sale during the event. Sarah Stamp of Galva, for example, couldn't resist this NASCAR video game. Photo by Ron Flewelling.
Let's make a deal! There was quite a variety of items to be found at this year's city wide yard sales in Aurelia. Local resident Dave Spinelli, for example, had quite a collection of railroad memorabilia up for grabs. The retired mail carrier is seen in this photo (left) going the hard sell route with Dannie Zupp of Washta. Photo by Ron Flewelling.
Simon's snack Any good yard saler can tell you that a wheeler dealer can work up a healthy appetite chasing down the bargains at an Aurelia city wide yard sale extravaganza. Luckily, the folks at Aurelia's First Congregational Church had this culinary quirk covered by offering a variety of rummage sale comfort food, a bill-of-fare that included taverns, hot dogs and bars. Young Simon Carlson, for example, didn't hesitate to wrap himself around one of their iced Rice Krispie bars. Photo by Ron Flewelling.
