7th girls track team competes at Sheldon

Friday, May 1, 2009

A small team of just four girls represented the Cherokee 7th grade girls at a track meet in Sheldon on a cold and windy night Tuesday.

The squad was down in numbers because many of the team members were participating in the Honor Choir in Spirit Lake, but the Cherokee girls did come away with some places in the individual events.

Maddy Woodall earned 4th place in the 400 meter run with her time of 1:17.6, and also 3rd place in the 800 meters, running the longer event in a time of 2:58.71. Anna Wharton turned in a time of 16.23 in the 100 meter dash, earning her a 5th place finish.

The team's next competition will be the annual Little Tomahawk Relays here in Cherokee on Monday.
