"Today was a tough meet for us," said Cherokee coach James DeVos. "It is telling of how competitive this conference is during regular season. On any given day, a team can post a low number and finish very well.

"Hopefully, the boys can use this as motivation to keep focused and determined for the rest of the season. We have a lot of golf meets left and hope to continue this season's success. David Cook again played well and his consistency is certainly contributing to our solid start this year."

In JV action for the Young Braves, Adam Pitts led the way with a 41, followed by Austin Mongan 45, Tom Weaver 46, Austin Winchell 48, Dillon Devitt 53, and Alex Peck 55.

Cherokee's JV won the competition with a 180, with HWC second with 185, and Sheldon third with 213.

The Braves play at the Storm Lake Invitational Saturday at Lake Creek, and host Storm Lake and Spencer Monday night.
