The Cherokee Washington High girls golf team showed steady improvement at two recent, large invitationals.
Host Carroll Kuemper won the recent Carroll Kuemper Girls Golf Invitational, carding a 354 in the 18-hole competition.
Denison-Schleswig was second with 384, followed by Carroll 386, Atlantic 404, Spencer 415, Cherokee 430, Galva-Holstein 432, Webster City 432, Jefferson-Scranton 434, Harlan 440, Fort Dodge St. Edmond 448, and Council Bluffs Lincoln 513.
Kelsey Ludwig was low scorer for Cherokee, shooting a 99 to place 14th out of 72 golfers. Other scores for WHS were Amanda Callahan 104, Danielle Hansen 112, and Ally Curry 115.
At the recent Sibley-Ocheyedan Invitational, Spirit Lake Park won the team title with a 183, followed by host S-O 200, Estherville-LC 206, George-Little Rock 206, Cherokee 207, Okoboji 209, Le Mars 219, Central Lyon 227, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 235.
Jessica Cook was low medal for Cherokee, carding a 47 to place fifth in the medalist race. Other Cherokee scores were Ludwig 51, Emily Cook 53, Callahan 56, Hansen 57, and Ally Curry 59.
