LE MARS - The Cherokee Braves golf team placed fourth in the competitive Le Mars Invitational Golf Meet here Saturday, carding a team score 334 in the 18-hole competition.
Sheldon won the Meet with a 325, followed by South Sioux City, Neb. 331, MOC-Floyd Valley 333, Cherokee 334, Le Mars 338, Lawton-Bronson 344, Hull Western Christian 348, Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto 349, Kingsley-Pierson 351, Le Mars Gehlen 354, Le Mars JV 378, Remsen-UNion 384.
Sheldon's Bradley Ogle was medallist with a 76, and Sean Manley of South Sioux City was runner-up with a 77.
Andy Braun led Cherokee with an 82, followed by David Cook 83, Paxton O'Connor 84, Brock Benson 85, Adam Pitts 88, and Austin Mongan 101.
"Saturday was a beautiful day to play golf," said Cherokee coach James DeVos. "All of the boys played very well. We were without two of our regular varsity players and we had other guys step in and shoot quite well.
"The scores were very consistent as well. It was a nice tune-up meet to help us get ready for conference at Brooks Golf Course (Okoboji) on Monday."
