Local Entertainment

Thursday, May 14, 2009

The "Cherokee Connection" radio program on KCHE FM (82.1 FM) returns to the air tonight (Thursday) from 5:40 - 6:40 p.m. Host Tim Gaydo's scheduled guest tonight is Chad Elliot, talented singer, songwriter, guitar player, and sculptor, who will talk to Tim via telephone. Chad will discuss his career and his upcoming performance on Friday at The Gathering Place on West Main Street in Cherokee. Chad's Friday performance will be from 8 p.m. - 10 p.m., and admission will be a donation at the door.

From 7 - 9 p.m. tonight (Thursday), Chad will also be leading the every-other-week jam session at The Gathering Place, giving Mike Hoover a well-deserved break. Admission is a $5 donation at the door.

Tomorrow afternoon (Friday) will find Cherokee Washington High School hosting a Class 2A District Track Meet; Aurelia, Galva-Holstein, and River Valley will be among the teams competing in the Class 1A meet at Holstein, in (G-H's retiring Athletic Director) Tim Thomas' swan song; and Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn and South O'Brien will be running at Hawarden (West Sioux).

For entertainment of a different kind, this Sunday afternoon brings most of the High School graduation ceremonies at area high schools and colleges, and with it, several graduation parties - some on Saturday, others on Sunday after the graduation ceremony, and still others on another day.

Have fun and stay sober.
