The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office assisted the Shelby County and Crawford County Sheriff's Offices in an investigation of five separate attempted child enticements in Crawford and Shelby Counties.
On Friday, a search warrant was executed at 1592 585th Street in rural Cherokee, the home of Marc Elliott Nelson. Nelson was arrested on a Shelby County warrant, and evidence relative to the case was seized from Nelson's residence and vehicle. The evidence was collected and transported back to Shelby County, along with Nelson, 64. He has been charged with Attempted Enticement of a Minor and Assault With Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse - both Aggravated Misdemeanors - in relation to an alleged atempt to abduct a 12-year-old girl in the town of Irwin after school dismissed on Thursday.
Nelson has been jailed in the Shelby County Jail, and his total bond has been set at $4,000.
