Nelson competes at NAIA track Nationals

SIOUX CITY - Cherokee Washington High School graduate Kara Nelson will be one of six Morningside College track and field athletes competing at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field ChampionshipsThursday through Saturday in Edwardsville, Illinois.

Nelson, a sophomore, will be competing in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase, as will her Mustang teammate Erin Keitges, a junior. The two have the seventh and eighth fastest times in the field in their event, with Keitges turning in a fastest time of 11:03.60 and Nelson 11:07.22, both at the Sioux City Relays.

Keitges placed seventh in the event at the Nationals last spring, with a time of 11:07.41.
