Area students graduate from Morningside

Several area students were among the 255 students who received Bachelor's degrees from Morningside College during the college's 111th spring commencement exercises, held on Saturday May 9, 2009.

The area students were:

Autumn Bartel, daughter of Dale and Linda Bartel of Cherokee, who graduated summa Cum Laude (with highest honor), for achieving a cumulative grade point average of 3.81 or higher. Bartel majored in biology and received a Bachelor of Science degree. She is a past graduate of Washington High School in Cherokee.

David Briese, son of Brian and Pamela Briese of Correctionville, who also graduated Summa Cum Laude. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Political Science. He is a past graduate of River Valley High School.

Rachel Held, daughter of Meryl Hopper of Atlantic and Greg Held of Elk Point, So. Dak., received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, majoring in nursing. She is a past graduate of Atlantic High School.

David Kenan, son of Tim and Sharon Kenan of Cherokee, received a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in theatre and mass communications. He is a past graduate of Cherokee Washington High School.

Alicia Runyan, daughter of Norma Bush of Cleghorn, graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in advertising and graphic design. She is a past graduate of Cherokee Washington High School.
