The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday for their regular meeting.
Among issues on the Board's agenda was the approval of a long range transportation plan for Region 4 that was requested by the Department of Transportation which requires an updated plan every five years. Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council (SIMPCO) representatives Michelle Bostinelos and Kellee Van Bruggen reviewed the proposal with the Board.
Cherokee County Engineer Dave Shanahan presented the Board with one utility permit. The Board approved the underground permit for MidAmerican Energy Company in Section one of Amherst Township to power railroad crossing signals on F Avenue. Shanahan and the Board then discussed general business.
Other business for the Board was the approval of an amended lease agreement with the State of Iowa for the Juvenile Court Offices at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute.
The Board also approved two fireworks permits for Jim Steffen in Willow Township and for Supervisor Dean Schmidt in Liberty Township. Schmidt abstained from voting.
