The City of Cherokee Street Department will be picking up yard waste on the first Wednesdays of the months of June, July and August. The dates are June 3, July 1, August 5.
Yard waste must be in paper sacks or cardboard boxes -- no plastic bags, no appliance boxes, no garbage cans or barrels.
The Street Dept. cannot dump your containers, so the waste must be in paper sacks or cardboard boxes that can be thrown over the side of their dump trucks.
Tree branches must be tied in bundles no longer than 4 feet long and no more than 2 feet in diameter, and separate from leaves/grass.
Yard waste must be placed at the curb only, no alley pickups, by 8 a.m.
All areas of the city will be picked up on the above Wednesdays. The city garbage contractor, Sanitary Services, will again have three, yard waste pickup days in the fall, dates to be announced.
