Ed Sand met with the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors recently for a funding request on behalf of the Marcus For Progress organization.

Sand requested funds for a new roof and fašade renovation, including an awning treatment and a new door and paint for the Marcus Senior Citizen Center.

The Center also houses a food bank, and serves as the Marcus American Legion meeting facility. After hearing the request from Sand, the Board allocated $10,000 for the project from the Cherokee County Rural Betterment Funds.

The CCRBF was established as part of Rural Local Option Tax and the Board has been donating to various projects around Cherokee County since 2002. These efforts are to help to take care of the needs of the smaller communities in Cherokee County or special projects that the Board sees fit to fund.
