GHSC softball Lady Pirates move to 4-0

GALVA - The Galva-Holstein/Schaller-Crestland softball team finished off the first week of the season with another win, defeating a tough Westwood team by the score of 8-2 on Friday, improving their record to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Leading the way at the plate for GHSC was Brea Slaybaugh, who went 3-4, scored two runs and had four stolen bases. Heather Joslin had three RBI and Brooke Wiese had two.

Picking up the pitching win was Jaime Christensen, who pitched all seven innings and gave up three hits and one earned run, with one walk and five strikeouts.

Coach Scott Phelps said the coaches were "happy with another solid effort , as our kids continue to hit and pitch well. We're happy with how hard our kids are playing."
