Everyone is invited to join in the Cleghorn community for a fun time. Proceeds will be used for park improvements and building upkeep.

Some history on the Cleghorn Community Center: Early in 2006 several Cleghorn community members gathered and voted to build a new community building to replace a small park shelter that had been outgrown for community gatherings.

In March of 2006 the community started selling bricks to be engraved and placed on a wall in a new building as part of a community fundraising. They held a potato topper dinner and an Ice Cream Day celebration, and with donations from the county, city, businesses and many individuals, enough funds were raised by the end of June of 2006 to apply for a Vision of Iowa CAT grant which was approved in August of 2006.

Building of the new Cleghorn Community Center began that September and by January of 2007 the building was ready to be occupied.

Ongoing fundraisers have included the annual potato topper in April, in September there has been egg bake brunch and of course the Ice Cream Day in June, along with sale of more bricks. These fundraiser have proved successful and have enabled the purchase of furnishings, including equipment for the kitchen, plus landscaping in the park along with a basketball court.

Weekday mornings the Center's men's coffee group meets in the smaller room for that purpose, also a women's group meets on Wednesday, and couple's group meets on Sunday afternoon.

All add to the funds needed for upkeep at the center. Future fundraisers will enable the building of a patio off the door to the park and playground, new picnic table, park benches and possibly some new park playground equipment.

This building has proven to be the hub of the city with bookings for anniversaries, birthdays, showers, graduations, family reunions, wedding receptions, business meetings, and much more. All events keep the building a very busy place.
