I'm sure everyone is looking forward to their summer vacation. It' s time for biking, swimming, skateboarding, going on picnics, and having fun with friends and neighbors.
Don't forget to include the Cherokee Public Library in your summer plans.
Come join us Friday, June 12 at 1 p.m. at the Cherokee Community Center when Linda Laird and her friends at 'Pockets Full of Fun' will be presenting a fun-filled program with ventriloquism, magic tricks, stories and music. There will be prizes for everyone.
The fun doesn't stop there. Magician Chris Collins and the 'Wheel of Amazement"' is a fast -paced comedy, magic, and audience participation program which will officially kick-off our summer reading program. It will be held at the Cherokee Community Center, Wednesday, July 1 at noon. Readers will receive their reading log and 'Be Creative at Your Library' bag that night.
Our summer reading program will begin July 1 and run until July 28. The program focuses on the arts through stories, guest performers, crafts, and activities. We will offer programs on Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for pre-school - 2nd grade children. Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., we will offer programs for 3rd - 6th grade children.
Each week has a special theme on how one can be creative. Week #1 is 'I' ve Got Rhythm,'; Week #2 is 'Ham It Up & Free Play/Art,' and Week #3 is 'Dance and Move.' The reading log will have guidelines and activities that the children can complete each week to earn a prize and receive tickets they can use for our Movie Time finale on Tuesday, July 28 at the American Theatre.
There will be no storytime during the month of June.
Our new bookshelf in the children's department has a few new books for our Young Adults.
