MAPLETON - The Galva-Holstein/Schaller-Crestland softball team dropped another tough Western Valley Conference game on Wednesday, losing to Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto , 9-4.

GHSC's defense let them down, committing several errors. Leading the way at the plate for GHSC was Brea Slaybaugh, who went 4-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Emily Schiernbeck and Brooke Wiese each stroked doubles for GHSC and Brittany Ridder slugged a triple.

Jaime Christensen took the loss on the mound, pitching seven innings and giving up seven runs (four unearned), while walking four and also striking out four.

GHSC coach Scott Phelps said, " The coaches were very disappointed in the defense and the errors. This is a area we will have to continue to work on."

The Lady Pirates are competing in a tournament in Sheldon tonight and Saturday.
