Lady Pirates beat R-U 12-2 in 5 innings

GALVA - The Galva-Holstein/Schaller-Crestland softball team got back on the winning ways on Thursday, as they defeated Remsen-Union, 12-2, in five innings.

Picking up the win on the mound for the Lady Pirates was Jaime Christensen, who threw five strong innings, giving up just two hits and two unearned runs. Christensen walked four batters and struck out three.

Leading the way at the plate for GHSC were Brea Slaybaugh, who went 2-4 , scored one run, drove one in, and also stole two bases; Roxanne Grundmeier, who went 2-4 with one RBI; Emily Schiernbeck, who was 2-4 with one RBI and two stolen bases; Lindsey Joslin, who went 2-2, including a double, and drove in two runs; and Shannon Rohlk, who went 1-2 with a double and two RBI.

The Lady Pirates are now 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the Western Valley Conference.

The coaches were pleased with the way the team played defense,and how well they continue to hit the ball.

The busy GHSC club plays at Lawton-Bronson tonight, hosts Kingsley-Pierson Tuesday, and plays at Odebolt-Arthur Wednesday.
