The Cherokee Braves freshman baseball team dropped two recent doubleheaders, falling 12-6 and 6-1 to visiting Storm Lake, and losing 7-0, 14-5 at Alta.
In the first game against Storm Lake, Adam Pitts took the pitching loss, allowing seven run s on two hits and five walks, with two strikeouts in three innings of work. Marc Husman led Cherokee with two hits and four RBI, and Dillon Drefke had one hit and two RBI.
In the second game, Jake Spindler took the mound loss, giving up five runs on three hits and two walks, with three strikeouts in four innings of work. Husman pitched one inning and allowed one run on two hits and two Ks. Cherokee managed no hits against the tough Storm Lake pitchers.
At Alta, Zac Smith got the pitching loss, allowing seven runs on nine hits and one walk, with three Ks. Matt Enderlin had two hits for the Young Braves, while Spindler, Husman, and Nate Seliger also notched hits.
In the second game at Alta, Enderlin was the losing pitcher, allowing three runs on three hits and one K. Austin Winchell pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up six runs on three hits and two Ks, and Seliger gave up five runs on three hits with two Ks in one inning of work. Gabe Conley and Matt Aguirre each stroked a hit and two RBI for Cherokee.
