At a recent meeting, the Kiwanis Club of Cherokee announced its choice of Matt Koch as the High School Student of the Month for May.
Matt, the son of Scott and Deb Koch, is a senior at Washington High School. He is involved in many sports, including baseball, where he was selected all-conference for three years, all-district two years, all-state one year, and a pre-season all-american from Louisville Slugger one year.
Matt is also involved in student council, and served as the president during his senior year. He is also involved in FCA, DFL, and NHS, and was once selected as the Knights of Columbus student of the month.
Students selected for the "Kiwanis Student of the Month" Award 'must demonstrate good academic effort, attend school regularly, and be considerate of others.'
The purpose of the recognition is to support students who show good potential as future leaders and will work for the betterment of communities through service to others.
