AURELIA - The Aurelia Bulldogs scored nine runs on 18 hits in a Monday night Northwest Conference game baseball game against Schaller-Crestland, but still came up short of a win, losing 15 - 9.
Five Bulldog hitters- Camrin Meyer, Ryan Donahoo, Kody Pinkerton, Evan Larson, and Jason Glienke - cracked three hits apiece for Coach Bob Mikos' team, with Meyer, Pinkerton, and Glienke (2) all slugging doubles. Meyer was on base five times, stole two bases, and scored four of the Bulldog runs. Aurelia swiped a total of 10 bases, with Pinkerton, Larson and Glienke each stealing two.
The 'Dogs committed five infield errors, though, contributing to five unearned runs by the Wildcats.
Pinkerton started on the mound for the Bulldogs and was relieved in the 4th inning by Meyer, who started the game behind the plate.
The game was moved from its original site of Early due to wet field conditions there, and the Wednesday June 24 game between the teams, originally scheduled for Aurelia, will now be played in Early.
The Bulldogs' next contest is Friday, when they host Laurens-Marathon in a conference matchup.
