River Valley girls stay the course

The youthful River Valley softball team is experiencing growing pains this early season, playing competitive games, but winning few.

The Wolverines lost 9-3 at Galva-Holstein/Schaller-Crestland to open the season, with Kelli Miller taking the pitching loss, alowing 10 hits and two walks, with three strikeouts. Amber Bauer and Amanda Miller each had two hits for RV.

The Wolverines lost a tight 6-5 contest at Kingsley-Pierson, with Kelli MIller taking the loss after giving up 11 hits and one walk, with one K. Jess Fundermann, Kari Ludvigson, Shelby Chester, and Mackenzie Fitch each had two hits for RV.

The RV girls lost 6-4 to Le Mars Gehlen in the K-P Tournament, with Ludvigson taking the pitching loss, giving up 12 hits and five walks, with five Ks. Lexie Chester had three hits and scorfed three runs, and Bauer added two hits.

RV lost 10-6 to Sioux City West in the K-P Tournament, with Fitch getting the loss, allowing seven hits and four walks, with three Ks. Fitch and Andrea Nelson led RV hitters with two apiece.

RV bombed Remsen St. Mary's 20-1 in the K-P Tournament, pounding out 16 hits including four by Fitch. Kelli Miller got the pitching win, allowing one hits and three walks, with two Ks.

RV lost another close one 7-6 at Battle Creek-Ida Grove, with Kelli Miller absorbing the loss, allowing four hits and one walk, with four Ks. Bauer, Fitch, Amanda Miller, Fundermann, and Nelson netted hits for the Wolverines.

RV drpped an 11-7 game at home to Odebolt-Arthur, with errors plaguing the Wolverines throughout. Kelli Miller got the loss, allowing eight hits and two walks, with one K. Fitch had two hits to pace the offense.

The Wolverines lost 8-3 to Westwood at home, with Kelli Miller getting the loss, giving up eight hits and one walk, with four Ks. Kristen Richey had three hits to lead RV, while Ludvigson had two of the team's three RBI.

RV lost 10-0 in six innings at rated Woodbury Central and could not muster any offense against the stout WC pitching. Kelli Miller took the loss, allowing six hits and one walk, with one K, and Ludvigson gave up four hits and struck out two.
