AURELIA - The Aurelia Bulldog softball team took on a tough Coon Rapids-Bayard team in a non-conference doubleheader here on Wenesday and lost both games by 10 runs, 13-3 and 10-0.

Erin Laursen pitched the entire game for Aurelia in the 13-3 loss. She walked four and also struck out four. Only two of the Crusaders' 13 runs were earned runs. Laursen also had two of the Bulldogs' six hits. Lexi Tuttle, Kerstin Tuttle, and Courtney Bruce drove in the three Bulldog runs.

In the other game, Audrey Winterhof was on the hill for Aurelia and she struck out two and walked two. Only four of the Crusaders' 10 runs were earned, as the Bulldogs continue to be derailed by poor fielding. The Aurelia bats were completely silenced in the game as they were no-hit by freshman CRB hurler Marissa Spoo. The Crusaders now sport an 11-4 mark for the season.

Things don't get any easier for Coach Tim Galvin's girls. Monday they were scheduled to travel to Newell to face Newell-Fonda, the defending state champ currently ranked #2. They host Storm Lake St. Mary's in NW Conference action on Thursday and then the tough Galva-Holstein/Schaller-Crestland Lady Pirates (11-3) on Friday.
