AURELIA - Six returning letter winners will carry much of the load for coach Tim Galvin's Aurelia softball team this season.
Back to bolster the Bulldogs are juniors Erin Laursen (pitcher/catcher), Kristun Tabler (center field), Heather Ballantyne (first base), and Amanda Felten (second base); and sophomores Audrey Winterhof (shortstop/pitcher), and Courtney Bruce (catcher).
Among the promising newcomers coach Galvin greeted this season are sophomore third baseman Amber Loucks, and freshman outfielders Lexi Tuttle and Kerstin Tuttle.
Erin Laursen was a second-team All-Northwest Confernece pick as a pitcher last season.
Among his team's strengths, Galvin said "Offensively, we are swinging the bats well and making good contact." He also said his team has some decent young pitchers.
Among team shortcomings, Galvin said, "We may struggle a little defensively with some new girls playing some new positions." Also, team speed is a concern for the Bulldogs, according to the coach, who is assisted this season by Liz Laursen.
