City requests clean-up assistance of residents

Monday, June 22, 2009

The City of Cherokee continues to request the assistance of residents in dealing with the removal of fallen trees and branches from the Thursday morning storm.

If at all possible, residents are being asked to complete their own cleanup and take the limbs and branches to the Cherokee County Landfill. The landfill will accept all limbs and branches less than 10 inches in diameter. Neighbors are encouraged to help each other with the cleanup. The landfill is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon on the first and third Saturdays.

As a result of the outstanding work of all City Departments and volunteers, crews have picked up branches along with the trees with the most serious tree damage. In the next several workdays, crews will attempt to finish work along all other streets.

The Mayor and City Council wish to say thank you to city employees and the citizens of Cherokee for an outstanding display of community spirit and cooperation.
