AURELIA - Galva-Holstein/Schaller-Crestland took on a very young Aurelia team at Aurelia on Thursday and came out on top by the score of 14-0 in 5 innings.
Picking up the win on the mound was junior pitcher Jaime Christensen, who pitched all five innings and gave up one hit, with no walks and had five Ks - her fourth consecutive game of not issuing a walk.
Catcher Courtney Bruce had the lone Bulldog base knock. Audrey Winterhof was on the mound for Aurelia and she struck out three and walked none.
GHSC brought a lot of big bats to the park, led by Brooke Wiese, who went 4-4 with a double and an RBI; Heather Joslin, who went 3-4 with two doubles and four RBI; Emily Schiernbeck, 3-4 with two RBI, a double, and three runs scored; Roxanne Grundmeier went 3-4 with three runs scored, one RBI and two stolen bases; Lindsey Joslin, who went 2-4 with two RBI and a double; Sydney Shell, who had a double, and Brea Slaybaugh, who went 2-5 and scored three runs and stole three bases.
GHSC coach Scott Phelps said, "The coaches were happy with the way the kids continue to improve on a daily basis and play hard. We were also happy with 10 different kids having hits tonight. We are hitting the ball up and down the line-up, and our defense committed only one error tonight , while Jaime continues to pitch well. We are still striving for consistency as the season progresses."
GHSC improved it's overall record to 14-4.
