Cherokee County Kart Speedway will have races on fair's final day
The Cherokee County Fair Board two years ago unveiled the Cherokee County Kart Speedway at the Cherokee County Fairgrounds, and drivers tooke a 'test run' on the new 1/8 mile track.
This year, during the Cherokee County Fair, a $750 payout will be up for grabs for the top eight in four different racing classes at the Cherokee Count Kart Speedway. Hot Laps will start at 12:30 p.m.on the last afternoon of the fair, July 12, and races will begin at 1 p.m. Admission is free on fair day. Kart and driver entry fee will be $30 ($25 for kid's classes), and a pit pass will cost $5.
Prize money awarded during the fair race will be in the following classes: Stock Medium Class, Stock Heavy Class, Clone and 390 Animal.
The list of all classes: Rookie (no weight); Jr. Sportsman (225 weight); Junior 1 (225 weight); Junior 2 (285 weight); Stock Medium (350); Stock Heavy (375 weight); Sr. Sportsman (360 weight); Animal and Clone and Kids' Classes will be awarded $175. There will be a minimum of 10 karts per class.
Feature winners will receive $175 for first place and trophy, $150 for second place and trophy, $100 for third place and trophy, and trophies for the rest.
Prior to the July 12 race, there will be race on June 27. Hot Laps for will begin at 6 p.m. and race time will be at 7 p.m. Admission for the general public, age 5 and up, will be $3 per person and the kart and driver entry fee will be $25 with a Pit Pass costing $5. The winner will receive trophy awards only for race the only cash prize four adult class only.
