Talent Show returns to Cherokee County Fair

Monday, June 29, 2009

The Cherokee County Fair will include the Bill Riley Talent Show again this year, with a few changes from past years, to correspond with changes made at the State Fair contest.

The Talent Show will be open to anyone, regardless of their county of residence. However, Cherokee County residents will be given the first chance to sign up for the twenty available spots. Out-of-county residents may sign up after June 25.

There are three age groups for this year's show: Sprouts (ages 2 - 5); Juniors ( 6 - 14) and Seniors (15 - 21). A 14-year-old who turns 15 by the time of the State Fair would still be eligible to compete in the Junior Division, as long as they met the age requirement at the time of qualification.

The 2009 Cherokee County Talent Show will take place on the Cherokee County Fairgrounds on the last day of the fair, Sunday July 12, at 1 p.m., and the winners in the Junior and Senior divisions will advance to the Iowa State Fair. Performers in the "Sprouts" division will perform for the experience only - they will not be judged.

Please contact Sherry Held at 712-225-4306 if you have questions, or mail the following information to Sherry, at 4 Arrow Street in Cherokee, if you wish to sign up for this year's Talent Show : name, type of act, and the age of the performer.
