Art Eide
Art Eide, 89, of Cherokee, Iowa died Thursday July 2, 2009 in the Cherokee Villa Nursing Home following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday July 7, 2009 , at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, with Rev. James Steen officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee. Online condolences may be left at www.greenwoodfuneral.com.

Arthur was born on February 20, 1920 in Yankton, South Dakota to Ole and Anna (Evensen) Eide. He was educated in Yankton, South Dakota., and following his education, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1944 and was a veteran of WWII. On February 25, 1939 he married Evelyn Christensen in Yankton. Art was confirmed on May 13, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton, South Dakota. In 1962, the couple moved to Cherokee, where Art went to work for Louie Katzman at his farm store. He later worked for Lee's Hardware in Cherokee for many years. Art was a wonderful woodworker, and enjoyed working with oak. He also liked to fish. Art especially enjoyed his family and lived for his kids and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, on April 9, 2003; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Eide; three sisters and one brother. He is survived by a son, Richard Eide of Pomeroy; a daughter, Dianna Langholdt and her husband, Terry, of Cherokee; two sisters, Marge Hogan and her husband, Dan, of Minnesota and Ruth Brugert of California; a brother, Bob Eide of Ohio; 7 grandchildren, Debbie Witzke of Varina, IA; Brenda Braunschweig and her husband, Randy, of Newell, Rennie Eide and his wife, Lisa, of LeMars, Leah Movall and her husband, Larry, of Pomeroy, Angelia Agnitsch and her husband, Matt, of Cherokee, Chad Langholdt and his wife, Jami, of Sioux City, and Tricia Koster and her husband, Cory, of Brookings, SD; 16 great -grandchildren; 4 great -great- grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Vernon Christensen and his wife, Jean, of Vermillion, SD; and a sister-in-law, Norma Christensen of Yankton, SD.
