MARCUS - "Did you know? Memories of Marcus" is the theme for a summer tea to be hosted by the Marcus Historical Society on Saturday, July 25 beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church.
The entertainment for the tea will feature a program originally prepared for Marcus' 75th Diamond Jubilee which wasn't used back in 1957. The group decided it was a neat historical piece which would interest many history buffs. This narration will be presented by Pat Ducommun. Along with that, Arlene Hollenbeck is putting together a number of historical photos to share with those in attendance.
The committee will have much for everyone to look over while sipping their tea/coffee, including photos of the 1971 Centennial Pageant. The group will also have a number of vintage dresses modeled or on display.
Tea will be served as refined ladies of the past did as everyone is delighted in getting together with friends to enjoy friendly conversation and see what they can learn. The menu calls for a variety of dainty sandwiches and sweets for all to enjoy. The tables will feature teapots which will be fun to check out.
To add to the festivity, ladies are asked (not required) to have some fun and wear a vintage hat regardless the decade it was made. They'll also sing a few old goodies and enjoy other antique displays.
The only charge will be in the form of a good-will offering.
In addition to Ducommun and Hollenbeck, others serving on the committee are chair-lady Bonnie Huseman, Sherree Ogren, Betty Moser, Edith Bilsland, Faith Specht and Mary Peterson.
