Today is the entry day for 4-H Hogs from 6-8:30 a.m., Consumer Judging Contest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and entry and judging of 4-H Exhibits from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The 4-H Family Crafts Building is open daily except Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Commercial Building hours are noon to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, and 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and the Quail Valley Farms Interactive Petting Zoo is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The Fair officially opens Thursday, July 9 with a full day of fun and entertainment, including Open Swine Show; 4-H Beef, Sheep, Dairy, and Meat Goats entry day; Poultry & Pullorum testing, and Advanced Cattle; 4-H Swine Show and Showmanship; 4-H Rabbit Show and Showmanship; 4-H Poutry Show and Showmanship; 4-H horse Show; Pride of Iowa Contest; Presentation of Flags; and the famous Imperial Stunt Drivers appearing at 8 p.m. at the South end of the Fairgrounds.
Friday is jam-packed with various activities, including Open Bucket/Bottle Calf Show; 4-H Horse Show and Showmanchip; 4-H Dairy Show and Showmanship; District 4-H and FFA Livestock judging; Ashley Rassel Memorial Open Beef Show; Karicatures in Commercial Building; Exotic Animal Show; Cavaliers Drill Team Performance; Beef Producers serving Beef Burgers; Presentation of Flags; T&C Rodeo Company's Bull Riding at 7:30 p.m. with Fireworks to follow; Teen Dance in Activity Building at 9 p.m. sponsored by Godfather's Pizza.
Saturday's full slate includes the 4-H Beef Show and Showmanship; Ladies Day sponsored by Cherokee Villa; 4-H Small Pet and Dog Obedience Show; Diaper Derby in Activity Building; Baby Costume Contest; Pedal Tractor Pull; Cherokee County Battle of the Bands - Nintendo Wii Rock Band Competition in Activity Building; Free Arcade Games in Activity Building sponsored by the Fair Board; Cletus Henke Magic Show; Sanctioned Tractor Pull - Main Stage; Karicatures in Activity Building; 4-H Advance Cattle Feeding Show; 4-H Clothing Revue in North 4-H Building; 4-H Sheep Show/Advanced Sheep; 4-H Meat Goat Show; Parade of 4-H Champions; Senior 4-H Awards Presentation; Bike Give-Away; Kid's Day; Por Producers grilling Pork Burgers' Presentation of Flags; and the popular Demo Derby at 6:30 p.m. Chain saw carvings will be auctioned off between the consolation and feature at the Demo Derby.
Includeed for Sunday are Church Service in Activity Building; 4-H Educational Presentations, Working Exhibits, and Extemporaneous Speaking in 4-H Buildings; Go-Kart Races; 4-H Family Horse Day; Bill Riley Talent Show in Activity Building; "Deal or No Deal;" Release of 4-H Exhibits and Animals; and the Crowing of the new Fair Queen at 5 p.m. on the Main Stage.
