ARTHUR - Galva-Holstein/Schaller-Crestland softball coach Scott Phelps said his team "put together one of their best efforts" on Tuesday night, as the Lady Pirates defeated a quality Logan-Magnolia team in the Western Valley Conference Tournament at Arthur by the score of 3-0.

Jaime Christensen pitched all seven innings, spacing out nine singles, while walking one and striking out four to notch the win. Leading the way at the plate for GHSC were Lindsey Joslin, who went 1-4, scored two runs and stole a base, and Sydney Shell, who was 1-3 and drove in a run. Coach Phelps said, "The coaches were happy with the effort and how well the kids played in all areas of the game. The defense was good all night , and the pitching was solid also."

GHSC finished the regular season with a 22-13 mark, and opened Regional Tournament play Wednesday against East Sac County at Galva.
