The River Valley softball team split two recent Western Valley Conference games, defeating Odebolt-Arthur 9-0 in Odebolt, and losing 15-6 to Lawton-Bronson in nine innings at Correctionville.

Kelli Miller got the pitching win over O-A, throwing a five-hitter. Shelby Chester led the offense with a home run and two doubles for three RBI. Kari Ludvigson had a single and double with one RBI, Jessica Fundermann had a single and double and two RBI, and Kristen Richey stroked a double for two RBI.

"It was a fantastic game to watch," said River Valley coach Erika Jenness. "The girls played well and they had fun with it."

Miller and Ludvigson both pitched for the Wolverines in their extra-inning loss to L-B. Miller allowed 17 hits, and Ludvigson gave up three and walked four. Richey led the RV batters with a double and two RBI, while Mackenzie Fitch had a double and one RBI, and Amber Bauer and Baily Fitch each stroked a double.

"It was a well-played game until Lawton-Bronson got on a roll in the ninth inning," said Jenness. "We should have come out on top before the extra innings, but it ddn't happen. We kept our bats live at first, but struggled when we needed it. Our defense was tough, but they kept hitting the gaps."
