Lady Pirates' season ends in tourney

CARROLL - The first season of the shared Galva-Holstein/Schaller-Crestland softball program came to a sudden end Friday night when a veteran Carroll Kuemper Catholic squad beat GHSC by the score of 5-4, in a closely contested ball game which both teams had chances to win at the end.

Taking the loss on the mound for GHSC was Jaime Christensen, who pitched six innings and gave up two earned runs on six hits . Christensen struck one one batter and also walked one.

GHSC was led in hitting by Sydney Shell, who went 1-1 with two RBI. Heather Joslin and Lindsey Joslin each had a hit and scored two runs; Brittany Ridder went 1-2 with a double, and Michaela Else went 1-2 and had an RBI.

GHSC coach Scott Phelps said "The coaches were disappointed in the loss, but happy and proud on how hard our kids played down the stretch this year. The coaches were also happy with how well the sharing agreement has worked in this initial year."

GHSC will graduate two seniors in sisters Heather and Lindsey Joslin. "who will be missed," said the coach, but, he adds, "we will have a good nucleus of kids coming

back "

GHSC ends the season with a 23-14 overall record.
