Cherokee County resident visits Senator Grassley

Monday, July 27, 2009

WASHINGTON- Kate Tjeerdsma of Cherokee recently met with Senator Chuck Grassley at his office in Washington, D.C. Tjeerdsma is preparing to attend Wartburg College this fall, and was in Washington participating in the National Youth Science Camp. The National Youth Science Camp is a rigorous, science education program offered by the National Youth Science Foundation. The participants are recent high-school graduates from around the world who are interested in exploring new subjects and challenging themselves academically over a four-week period. "I always enjoy meeting with young people," Grassley said. "I was excited to learn about Kate's academic interests and future plans. Events like this are important to cultivate a young person's interest in math and science." Meeting with Iowans has been a priority for Grassley throughout his career in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. If you'd like to schedule a meeting with Grassley, visit http://grassley.senate.gov and click on Scheduling Requests under the Info for Iowans tab.
