LSFC hosts Catfish Tournament

Friday, July 31, 2009

CORRECTIONVILLE - The Little Sioux Fishing Club of Correctionville will host its third "All-Night Catfish Tournament" of the summer beginning Saturday night.

Registration will be from 4-6 p.m. at the Little Sioux Park south of Correctionville. Weigh-in will be Sunday morning at Little Sioux Park. All teams must weigh their own fish.

The team tournament consists of up to four members, although one-man teams are acceptable. Entry fee is $5 per team member. Payback is based on the number of participants. All teams must register themselves, and they must be registered before they start to fish.

To be eligible for one of the five cash prizes, a team must weigh in a stringer of five catfish. Minimum length of the fish weighed is 15 inches. The fish must be caught in the stretch of the Little Sioux River from Cherokee to Smithland, or its tributaries. All fish must be caught on rod and reel. All other fishing and boating regulations apply.

All stringers must be weighed in by 10 a.m. Sunday morning. No late weigh-ins will be accepted.

In addition to the tournament for the heaviest stringers of catfish, there also will be a tournament for the heaviest carp caught by an individual. This tournament will be run at the same time as the catfish tournament. The entry fee for that contest will be $1 per person. The carp must be weighed in by 10 a.m. Sunday.

For all LSFC members who have fish to weigh in for the all-year "Big Fish" Contest, fish can be weighed with Don Haahr at Southwood, Gary Bollmeyer, Bill Forbes, or at Little Sioux Park.
