The staff of Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee packed their newly opened conference room for the fourth of the six Iowa Hospital Association Celebrations being held across the state this year.

The afternoon event focused on recognizing the achievements, hard work and dedication of the 250 persons facility and provided an afternoon of saying thanks.

"What you do here makes a tremendous difference for our community and the people who live here," said hospital CEO John Comstock.

IHA President/CEO Kirk Norris told the crowd that, "The hospital here in Cherokee and IHA have worked together since IHA's establishment in 1929." "IHA's mission is to help your hospital achieve its mission, and our partnership with this hospital over the years has helped to do just that." Norris also discussed the notable economic impact the hospital has on the community, and identified some of Cherokee's staff members, including plant manager Dick Robinson who has worked for the Medical Center for 45 years.

The staff's commitment to excellence was also the topic of keynote presenter Steve Siemens."You leave here with tired feet every day, but you turn around and do it again the next day and the next, because your commitment is uncommon, and your focus is unlimited."

Following Siemens' presentation, Comstock, who is the chair for IHA District A, again thanked the hospital staff for the great work they do and kicked off the afternoon reception where staff received a t-shirt, compliments of IHA, as well as an ice cream treat donated by Martin Brothers Distributing, an IHA Associate Member.
