'There's nothing to do!'
This is often the battle cry of area kids after the newness of summer vacation has worn off and the boredom of the same old thing moves in.
It's not that kids can't find things to do, it's that they can't find things that they want to do.
There are quite a few things for area children to do to take advantage of the summer months away from school while not having to vegetate in front of the television, computer or video games.
The swimming pool offers fun for all while under the watchful eye of lifeguards. Kids can also get out and play basketball, skate board, play tennis and baseball.
Spring Lake Park allows a place to fish, use playground equipment and also offers a disc golf course.
Summer is a time for children to enjoy the outdoors while they can, before they have to return to the classroom in August. Only then do they want to get outside.
Remind them of this the next time they say "there's nothing to do!"
